I found Flickr to be very interesting. The photos from the Library of Virginia were easy to browse and the comments good, although one I thought was a little bizarre.
It would certainly make it easy to look at the photos in our collection, but is this service free? If so, would that delete an income stream for the VHS? How are other institutions handling it? Is there a worry that the photos are used appropriately? Good questions for futher review.

You can set up a Flickr account for free (it allows you to post 200 photos, and is the kind of account I have) or for $24.95/year you can upgrade to a pro account.

You can make your account viewable only to people with an invite (through email). Or if you were to make your pics viewable to the public you can opt to post a small low resolution image. This at least gets your images out in a public forum so that people know what's in your collection.

But good questions, and certainly ones with no straight-forward answers! Thanks for checking out Flickr!

Sorry! I had to delete my last comment because I was signed up under my personal blog (not VHS related)
